Honoring Women Conservationists
New Yorkers have women to thank for the addition of 300 miles of bike lanes and 50 plazas citywide, the restoration of Central Park in the '80s which saved it from a cycle of disrepair and crime and the protection of 1 million acres of New York land. Over the past decade, the Audubon Society's Women in Conservation program has honored not only the women behind these initiatives, but also others who have positively impacted environmental change with the Rachel Carson Award.

In what may be the youngest dance company in Manhattan, the Experimental Dance Group opens doors for elementary-school children into the world of professional modern dance.
Hosted by Academy of American Poets, the Poetry & the Creative Mind gala featured actress Tyne Daly, who lulled the audience with Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Love Is Not All (Sonnet XXX)" and actress Patricia Clarkson, who flawlessly delivered three poems by Howard Altmann, who was in the audience.

New Yorkers head uptown for the eighth annual Evening in the Garden hosted by Central Park Conservancy's Greensward Circle, a group of a few hundred working professionals between the ages of 21 and 39.
For One Night, Pink Becomes Wall Street
After trading closed at the New York Stock Exchange, Komen Greater New York, an affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, decorated the trading floor with its signature pink ribbons for the Painting Wall Street Pink party.
Angels and Ice Flakes at Central Park Festival
Some 4,000 onlookers dropped by the Central Park Conservancy's third annual Ice Festival. Some sipped hot chocolate from the Van Leeuwen truck while getting a history lesson from Central Park Conservancy's volunteers.
